Just 11 days after releasing a fairly substantial update of its Chrome browser (that was version 8.0.552.215), Google has posted a security update to version 8.0.552.224, which I have dutifully downloaded and installed—a painless operation with Chrome, unlike with Safari updates that require running an installer and then a reboot (that’s because of Safari’s close integration with the Mac OS, which does confer some advantages, but is still a pain). Chrome also starts up fast and reloads your last browsing session quickly and without user intervention, another leg up on Safari, which I do use sometimes, but Chrome is always up and running on my Mac.
