Google delays decision on fiber-optic community winner until 2011

In February, Google announced it was planning to deploy 1 Gbps fiber-optic connections to between 50,000 and 500,000 people in locations in the U.S. The company made it clear that this was an experiment, not a move toward becoming an ISP, and asked cities to nominate themselves. Nominations ended in late March.
