Oklahoma prison to use animal drug in murderer’s execution (AHN)

(AHN) – A convicted murderer in Oklahoma is set to become the first in the U.S. to be executed using a substitute for an anesthetic used in lethal injection. Due to a shortage in sodium thiopental, one of three drugs used for lethal injection, the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester will instead use pentobarbital on John David Duty, 58, on Thursday evening.
