Deutsche Bank avoids prosecution, agrees to $554 million penalty (AHN)

(AHN) – Germany?s largest bank, Deutsche Bank, agreed to pay the U.S. government Tuesday a $554 million fine to avoid prosecution. The bank, which admitted to the wrongdoing, extended tax shelters to wealthy Americans who wanted to avoid paying $5.9 billion in taxes by claiming $29.3 billion worth of fake tax losses.
