10 Ways Google, Apple Will Clash in 2011

People have been talking about Google battling Facebook for online user engagement for the last couple of years since the social network has rocketed to stardom and swelled to accommodate 550 million-plus users. Yet 2010 marked several fresh battlefronts between Google and its one-time cozy partner Apple. In 2010, the companies announced a number of new products and initiatives that encroach on the other’s turf. After a lukewarm 2008 and tepid 2009, Google’s Android platform blasted into the mobile stratosphere to challenge Apple’s iPhone and iPad. While advertising has largely been the provenance of Google, Apple launched iAds, an in-application platform to help developers make money from their iOS applications.
