HP formally unveiled its long-anticipated TouchPad tablet computer, the Pre 3 smartphone and the Veer mini smartphone Feb. 10. Of course, eWEEK covered the event live. All the devices are powered by HP’s revamped webOS, which the computer maker acquired in its $1.2 billion acquisition of Palm last year. Slated for retail release this summer (no pricing yet), the TouchPad weighs 1.6 pounds, and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The machine will come with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage as it seeks to challenge the game-creating Apple iPad and fleet of tablets based on Google’s Android 3.0 operating system, as well as RIM’s PlayBook.
