Researchers are trying to ascertain if an oil plume from a downed rig has reached a powerful water stream known as the loop current. Its been nearly 3.5 weeks and the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico keeps on gushing posing an ecological and financial disaster for surrounding areas.
